Grants Verification Officer – Temporary - Belfast City Centre

VANRATH are partnering with a well established Public Sector Organisation in their search for a Grants Verification Officer to join their team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, planning, and delivering a dynamic and independent audit service.

• Salary: £30,700
• Belfast
• Up to 6 months, with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure expenditure is eligible, accurate, and in alignment with project budgets.
• Complete verification forms and reports, highlighting non-compliance or irregularities for management action.
• Verify that projects comply with grant applications, contract conditions, and funding agreements.
• Tailor verification work to the size and nature of projects, addressing any irregularities.
• Report financial irregularities to relevant authorities, with recommendations for improvement.
• Contribute to the review of funding schemes, policies, and procedures, managing changing priorities.
• Safeguard the storage of financial records and assist auditors in their work.

Essential Criteria:

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grade C or above), including Maths and English.
• At least 2 years’ experience in one of the following:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience reviewing financial processes and/or controls.
• Experience liaising with multiple stakeholders to achieve a positive outcome.
• Proficiency in working with MS Office packages, particularly MS Excel.
