Compliance Assistant

My client is a leading and trusted logistics supplier, who provide to many companies across the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Compliance Assistant to join their team based in Ballymena.

This is a Full-Time, Permanent Position.

Working hours: Monday to Friday: 8.30am – 5pm OR 9am – 5.30pm.

With a salary of £28,000 per annum.

Job Role:

You will be responsible for supporting the compliance team in ensuring that the haulage business adheres to all relevant transport regulations and safety standards in the UK. This role will involve monitoring driver compliance, maintaining records, assisting with audits, and ensuring adherence to industry legislation such as Operator Licensing, DVSA, and Company policies.

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in compliance, transport or administration.
  • Knowledge of UK haulage regulations and transport compliance.
  • IT proficient with the use of Microsoft Office packages to include the use of Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload with strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience in the transport, logistics, or haulage industry.
  • Familiarity with tachograph analysis.
  • Knowledge of Operator Licensing requirements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with DVSA regulations, Operator Licensing requirements, and Health & Safety laws.
  • Monitor driver and vehicle compliance, including tachograph analysis and driver hours regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records for drivers, including bi-annual licensing checks.
  • Support the preparation of compliance reports and audits.
  • Conduct internal compliance checks and assist with external audits.
  • Monitor and report any non-compliance issues to management.
  • Assist in investigating and resolving compliance-related incidents.
  • Communicate regulatory updates and company policies to drivers.
  • Support in implementing and updating compliance procedures to drivers and continue to check they are being upheld.
  • Any other admin requirements needed within Compliance department including driver and fleet compliance.
