Assistant Tax Manager
The Group Tax Team is responsible for delivering the Group’s Tax Strategy through highclass tax compliance, efficient tax planning, and robust tax accounting processes.
Our Assistant Tax Manager will support the Group Tax Manager with an inital focus on tax compliance obligations regarding corporation tax, employment tax and VAT. You will engage with the internal finance teams and business areas to develop key relationships and understanding of the businesses.
As business knowledge develops, you will gain exposure to a wider range of areas, including (not limited to):
- Continuous improvement of tax systems and processes
- Substantial capital allowances claims on assets specific to the water industry
- Corporate loss relief restrictions and tax planning exercises
- Tax advisory work
- Corporate projects such as new systems implementations
- HMRC enquiries
Within the Finance & Regulation Directorate you will be a part of the Financial Accounting Team that is headed up by the Group Financial Controller.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
1. Qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Tax
OR
Qualified member of the Association of Tax Technicians with at least 2 years post qualification experience in a UK tax environment
OR
Qualified member of a recognised Accountancy body with at least 5 years’ experience in UK tax
AND
2. Strong technical knowledge across two or more of the following taxes: corporation tax, VAT, income tax, capital gains tax, environmental taxes
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in a finance environment
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
In the event of a large number of applications, in the first instance, candidates may be short-listed on the following desirable criteria:
