MCS are exclusively working with a leading specialist contract with multiple divisions who are seeking a commercially driven and detail-oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, supporting a portfolio of high-spec joinery, fit-out, and manufacturing projects across the London & the UK. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring financial efficiency, cost control, and contractual compliance on a variety of bespoke and large-scale projects within the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects simultaneously
- Lead on cost planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare detailed BOQs, tender documents, and procurement strategies
- Monitor and manage subcontractor accounts, variations, and final accounts
- Negotiate contracts, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards
- Provide commercial support to project managers and liaise with design, procurement, and manufacturing teams
- Conduct valuations, cash flow analysis, and ensure timely applications for payment
- Mentor junior members of the commercial team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in a QS role, preferably within manufacturing, joinery, or fit-out environments
- Strong commercial acumen with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
- Excellent understanding of contracts (JCT/NEC) and construction law
- Skilled in cost control, procurement, value engineering, and financial reporting
- Confident communicator and negotiator, with experience dealing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
- Proficient in relevant QS software (e.g., Causeway, Excel, etc.)
