Group Packaging Technologist – Maternity Cover (12-14 months)
Location: Belfast
Contract: Full-Time, Fixed Term

MCS Group is proud to be exclusively working with a well-known player in the food/drink industry with a strong presence across the UK and Ireland. Who are seeking to appoint an experienced Group Packaging Technologist to join their team on a 12-14 month maternity cover contract, based at their head office in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of packaging development and optimisation projects across multiple sites, supporting innovation, sustainability and cost efficiency within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead packaging projects to support NPD, optimisation, and sustainability initiatives
• Manage the packaging change process, including supplier engagement, planning and execution of trials, and stakeholder coordination
• Deliver cost reduction projects in line with procurement targets
• Maintain accurate packaging specifications and ensure all packaging complies with legal and technical requirements
• Monitor upcoming packaging legislation (e.g. PPT, pEPR) and provide concise updates to the business
• Support delivery of the organisation’s sustainability strategy through improvements in packaging

Candidate Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a packaging/packaging technology role within FMCG, or 3 years in a food manufacturing technical or quality position
• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline
• Strong understanding of packaging materials and technologies, including structural design and print processes
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Sound knowledge of supply chain operations, sustainability and regulatory requirements
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Full UK driving licence
