Location: Belfast / Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000

VANRATH is working with a leading energy organisation driving major transformation across Northern Ireland’s electricity system. As part of their Future Power Systems team, they’re hiring a Senior Lead Engineer – Economic Analysis to help shape long-term energy plans and support the move to a low-carbon future.

The Role

This role is ideal for someone with strong modelling experience and a passion for sustainable energy. You’ll lead on scenario planning, analyse new technologies, and provide insights to support key energy projects across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical modelling projects for energy scenarios and electricity system design

• Assess the economic impact of technologies like interconnectors and long-duration storage

• Develop models aligned with UK and EU energy policies

• Present technical and economic findings to a range of stakeholders

• Support and guide junior engineers and manage external consultants

• Represent the organisation at national and European forums

About You

• Degree in Engineering, Economics, Maths or similar

• 5+ years’ experience in energy systems or power markets

• Skilled in Excel, Python or other modelling tools

• Experience with scenario planning tools (e.g., Plexos a bonus)

• Strong communicator, able to simplify complex data
