Stock Controller
My client is a leading organisation based in Newry, who are currently seeking an experienced Stock Controller to join their team.
This is a Full-Time, Temporary position initially until the 30th of June 2025.
Working hours: Monday – Friday: 36 hours per week.
With a salary of £24,027 - £24,404 per annum (dependent on experience).
Requirement to travel to other sites when needed.
Successful candidate will be required to an Access NI check.
Job Purpose:
You will be responsible for maintaining an efficient and effective computer-based stores control and food costing system and to ensure that all information related to this is accurately processed in order to meet with payment to suppliers and to ensure the efficient and effective running of the kitchens and restaurants.
Essential Criteria:
- A minimum of 1 years (within the last 5) relevant industrial experience, including managing stock control within a catering environment
- A Level 3 qualification (or higher) in any discipline
- A pass grade at GCSE Level in English or Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy or an equivalent qualification
- A pass grade at GCSE Level in Mathematics or Essential Skills Level 2 in Numeracy or NICATS Access Math’s Modules or an equivalent qualification
- Excellent communication both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
Desirable Criteria:
- Essential/Key Skill Level 2 (or higher) in ICT or equivalent
- A minimum of a NVQ Level 2 (or higher) qualification in Professional Cookery or equivalent
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and review to ensure efficient control of food commodities for the effective delivery of curriculum
- Maintain and monitor the cost-efficient use of resources through the online stock control system
- Obtain food commodities by placing orders, making requisitions or drawing on available stock to minimise waste
- Deal with any problems in obtaining resources following agreed procedures and working within set frameworks and keeping relevant people in the organisation informed
- Check quality, quantity and suitability of resources and process invoices for all relevant deliveries
- Ensure resources are correctly stored and maintained according to food safety regulations; Monitoring and maintenance of hygiene, health and safety and security standards within the department including the checking of food temperatures and food safety, recorded in statutory HACCP files
- Issue of and record keeping of kitchen and restaurant stock, advising on re-ordering as needed
- Processing of food orders from staff and issue of individual orders for classes
- Complete regular stock takes within the catering department
- Deep cleaning of equipment during periods of down-time
- To provide cover for daily or evening functions
- Participate in staff development and training events
- Attend programme team and staff meetings
- Participate in marketing activities
- Check and record monies received daily
- Participate in the enrolment cover rota as appropriate
- Be required to undertake work outside normal working hours on occasions
- Provide reports, written and oral, as required
- Ensure that all documentation and authorisation procedures are adhered to
- Any other duties as required
