Job Overview
On behalf of our client, Apple Recruitment Services are looking for a passionate and self-motivated Server Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery and management of their infrastructure solutions. The successful candidate will work with a range of virtualisation, server, storage, and data protection platforms including Cisco, VMware/Broadcom, and Dell|EMC. This role involves hands-on technical support, ensuring the delivery and troubleshooting of data centre infrastructure, and helping maintain a secure and available environment for their organisation.

This is a hybrid role that allows flexibility, with both work-from-home and office-based opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
As a Server Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and maintaining server infrastructure, including VMware vSphere and physical environments.

• Monitoring infrastructure performance and addressing alerts using available toolsets.

• Assisting in the installation, implementation, and decommissioning of hardware.

• Analysing performance statistics and recommending corrective actions.

• Ensuring IT security, data confidentiality, and physical security are upheld.

• Creating and maintaining technical documentation and infrastructure configurations.

• Troubleshooting server infrastructure issues and ensuring timely resolution.

• Participating in the ICT Infrastructure on-call rota when required.

• Attending Datacentres and other sites as needed.

• Performing any other reasonable duties as required.

Required Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Technology/Data-focused degree and at least 2 years in a third-level supporting role, OR

• A Technology/Data-focused HND and at least 3 years in a third-level supporting role, OR

• 4+ years’ experience in an IT Support Role, with an additional 2 years in a third-level supporting role.

Additionally, the following skills and experience are required:

• Experience managing Microsoft Server Operating System environments for large organisations.

• Experience managing VMware vSphere environments for large organisations.

• Excellent analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills across a range of technical services.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• A desire to develop new skills and stay current with the latest infrastructure technologies, both on-premise and in the cloud.

• Experience in maintaining and operating Digital Infrastructure Services.

• Ability to work well within a team.

• Full Driver’s Licence and access to a car.

Desirable Experience
While not essential, the following skills will be advantageous:

• Experience with Dell Storage Technologies.

• Experience managing SAN/NAS Storage environments.

• Experience with Backup System environments.

• Experience with Cisco UCS Computing Hardware.

• Certifications in VMware vSphere, Cisco UCS, or Dell Storage Technologies.

• PowerShell/PowerCLI experience.

• Active Directory administration experience.

• Experience working within an ITIL environment.
