The opportunity:

The Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Specialist will closely collaborate with the firmwide Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ID&E) team to implement the strategic planning and objectives of the Firm's ID&E initiatives. This role will support the administration of ID&E initiatives aimed at improving the operations of the broader ID&E team, enhancing client service deliverables, and facilitating effective communications.

Responsibilities:

ID&E Client and Industry Metrics:

  • Coordinate, lead, and respond to diversity data surveys and client requests, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of information
  • Design and develop quarterly business reports of all client ID&E interactions to share with the team and other stakeholders

ID&E Reporting:

  • Assist in developing ID&E reporting by gathering information and data, coordinating with design and document services, and collaborating with regional team members to compile, maintain, and manage regional data and dashboards that track regional activity, strategic updates, and external data

ID&E Knowledge:

  • Support the central tracking, collection, organization, and sharing of information and knowledge related to the ID&E function to create efficiencies for the entire team
  • Report progress to the EC, PC, clients, and other stakeholders. Include client ID&E expectations, engagements, Firm ID&E awards, and quarterly updates on ID&E activities (events, meetings, topics)

ID&E Team Administration:

  • Provide general administrative support, including secretariat duties for regional affiliate groups, local ID&E Committees, inclusion groups, Champions forums, and regional development programs like Inclusion Circles and sponsorships such as LIFT, RISE, bConnected, BRIDGE, etc.
  • Coordinate external regional and local benchmarks in line with strategy, including client-facing partnerships like the GC for D&I Network

ID&E Resources and Materials:

  • Support the review, organization, and maintenance of information and materials on the ID&E Client Resource hub and across BakerWorld ID&E intranet pages, coordinating audits and updates as needed
  • Work with Regional teams to ensure the relevance of support materials to advance PG/Office Inclusion Plans (where they exist), Gender Equity Action Plans, and local office/PG ID&E Committee initiatives

Internal and External Communication:

  • Support the cascade of ID&E news, reports, and information across the Firm and BakerMcKenzie.com in collaboration with the wider ID&E team and communications team
  • Collaborating with the Senior Manager of ID&E Operations to assist in designing and developing the annual ID&E calendar while creating opportunities for firm-wide and regional activities to advance key programs such as International Women's Day (IWD), International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT), International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD), and socio-economic diversity initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated interest and passion for the field of inclusion, diversity, and change
  • Strong computer literacy, including PowerPoint, Excel, and general databases; Advanced Excel skills and data processing
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering and supporting project work
  • Strong organization skills, including setting priorities, structuring project deliverables, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently
