As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will work as part of a manufacturing team, designing and developing a range of motor control and power distribution panels to clients’ specifications. You will be responsible for interpreting clients’ requirements, preparing detailed electrical design and general arrangement drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant specifications and safety regulations, and preparing bills of materials for procurement. Additionally, you will prepare documentation for testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems, assist with tenders, participate in design reviews, engage in problem-solving, maintain electronic files, liaise with clients, and stay updated with technological advances and legislation.
To succeed in this role, you will need to ideally hold an electrical engineering qualification, but related design experience in switchgear, automation, and electrical control systems will be equally considered. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, a UK Driver’s Licence, access to own transport, and willingness to travel within the UK and Ireland are essential. Knowledge of various electrical design software packages is desirable. You should have 5 years of electrical experience (or relevant qualification), with experience in the design of electrical control systems, EPlan & AutoCAD, and previous experience in the water industry being advantageous. Essential skills include a natural aptitude for logical problem solving, ability to learn and adapt to new technology, ability to work on own initiative, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision, ability to build relationships internally and externally with colleagues and clients and understanding of engineering drawings. Project management skills are desirable.
