About the Company:
Our client is a leading food manufacturer based in Comber, Co. Down, dedicated to delivering high-quality products to the market. They are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join their team and ensure the smooth running of production machinery and equipment.
Role Overview:
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving plant equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability. While the focus is on electrical maintenance, mechanical knowledge is essential to support overall engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and plant equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
- Work on PLC systems, fault finding and minor programming adjustments.
- Maintain electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and control panels.
- Perform mechanical maintenance tasks such as bearings, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and food safety standards.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve breakdowns efficiently.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Essential Criteria:
- Time-served Electrical Engineer or relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering).
- Strong electrical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Proven mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with PLCs, motors, and control systems.
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and general mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of HACCP and food safety regulations.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
