The appointment is for a part-time, permanent member of staff to teach Home Economics at Key Stage 3 and Health & Social Care to GCSE and A Level Standard.
This is an opportunity for an energetic and imaginative teacher to be part of a dynamic and popular department. With changes to the curricular offer, we have now rebranded the Home Economics Department to the Nutrition and Health Science Department.
The Department is currently staffed by two full- time and one part-time member of staff and a full-time technician. In each Key Stage 3 Year group, there are 6 Home Economics classes; however, these are subdivided into 9 smaller groups. Each group has 2 periods per fortnight (each period is 55 minutes) with approximately 16 boys in a class. At Key Stage 4 we would have offered GCSE Hospitality (2 classes in each year group) and at Key Stage 5, BTEC Hospitality (2 classes in each year group). This has been a popular subject, but since the removal of BTEC Hospitality from the UK curriculum offer, from September 2025, we have decided to phase out Hospitality entirely, and replace it with GCSE Health and Social Care and A Level Health and Social Care.
