Your new role as a Continuous Improvement Engineer will involve working under the general supervision of the Senior Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for design efforts from inception through production, focusing on new product and continuous improvement designs. You will collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams, develop conceptual and final design solutions, manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products. Your responsibilities will include leading Quality Improvement Team (QIT) projects using the D8 process, driving cost-reduction efforts, implementing equipment product improvements, assisting Service with product support technical issues, aiding procurement with supply chain issues, implementing safety evaluations, creating and maintaining engineering specifications and drawings, and managing engineering changes.
What you'll need to succeed is a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and at least 3 years of experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic, and electrical/control system design). You should be proficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred), and ERP systems (Oracle preferred). The ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings and standards, an understanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming, and welding of metals, and good organisation and time-management skills are essential. Desired criteria include experience in the design of a complete tracked plant from concept through to production, experience in the use of FEA, knowledge and experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems, working knowledge of a PDM/PLM package, and understanding of engine, drivetrain, hydraulic, and electrical components and systems related to mobile equipment.
