Role Overview
Due to the continued success and growth of
H&J Martin Fit Out, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an
experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will
be working with market leading clients in retail, office, leisure and
hospitality, you will be responsible for ensuring projects are procured and
delivered within budgets and contractual restraints across UK and Ireland. This
is an opportunity for a Quantity surveyor wanting to further develop their

What you'll do
The following reflect the main
tasks associated with the position and are not intended to be exclusive or
exhaustive:
- Optimise project / contract profitability.
- Preparation of original cost
estimates, bills of quantity and cost reviews at various stages of project
design and construction
- Provide cost and value
engineering advice through the development of the project.
- Review of contract
documentation submitted by main contractor, and identify issues, risks,
and opportunities.
- Negotiate construction
prices with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive bidding.
- Manage the appointment of
any sub-contractors, ensuring procurement is in line with business
procedures and sub-contract covers the scope of works.
- Preparation of valuations
- Pricing of contract
variations
- Prepare monthly project cost
value reconciliation and value chain analysis reports for management
review.
- Assist with the resolution
of any contract disputes.
- Participating in project
meetings, and preparing reports
- Build and maintain healthy
and long-term relationships with clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
- Visit sites as necessary to
compile estimates and review costs as projects progress
- Compliance with all company
procedures, particularly health and safety policies and procedures at the
workplace and on site
- Managing
changes incoming and outgoing construction drawings and creating and
maintaining appropriate files for all projects.
What you'll
bring
As Quantity Surveyor your main skills and experience will
include:
Essential Criteria
·
Have significant relevant Quantity Surveying
experience
·
Possess either a Third Level Qualification in
Quantity Surveying or demonstrate significant and high level of experience
obtained working in a comparable role
·
Strong track record in managing and dealing
with contractual issues on standard forms of contract such as JCT and NEC
·
Be able to demonstrate the knowledge and
experience required to complete projects under budget taking into consideration
difficult time constraints
·
Have an extensive knowledge of construction
practices that can be used on site to analyse the design and propose potential
cost saving measures keeping up to date with pricing matrices and inflationary
impacts
·
Possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
packages and Information Technology in general
·
Good commercial acumen to develop further
opportunities
·
Experience in the retail sector would be
beneficial
