The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Research Officer – Statistics to join a respected organisation, providing high-quality, impartial research and statistical analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with key decision-makers, delivering evidence-based insights on a range of important topics. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to interpret complex data, and excellent communication skills to present findings in an accessible manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with key stakeholders to understand their research requirements and provide data-driven insights.
- Retrieve, analyse, and synthesise information from a wide range of sources, including online databases.
- Conduct statistical analysis, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and data modelling.
- Produce high-quality, impartial research papers, briefings, and reports tailored to the needs of decision-makers.
- Present research findings in meetings and public forums, responding to queries and providing expert analysis.
- Design and implement surveys, questionnaires, and data collection tools to gather and interpret quantitative data.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external research bodies, government officials, and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively within a research team, contributing to service improvement and innovation.
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must, by the closing date:
- Hold a 2:1 degree (or equivalent or postgraduate qualification) in which statistics and research were key components.
- Have at least two years of work experience following completion of the above qualification, specifically in:
- Conducting statistical analysis (including hypothesis testing and regression analysis).
- Producing and delivering briefings that involve statistical methods and/or modelling to support decision-making.
- Designing questionnaires, implementing online surveys, and analysing quantitative data.
Shortlisting Criteria (if required):
If a high volume of applications is received, preference will be given to candidates who meet one or more of the following:
- Hold a postgraduate qualification (Masters or higher) in which statistics and research were key components.
- Have published work involving statistical methods and/or modelling.
- Have experience in data analytics and data visualisation using tools such as Power BI, R, and/or Python.
