Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body based in Belfast, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor on an ongoing temporary contract basis for an initial period of c. 6–12 months with the possibility of further extension.
Your new role
You will be responsible for the cost management of a diverse range of major and minor capital projects which will include:
Leading and managing the delivery of a wide range of pre and post-contract quantity surveying services (estimating/cost planning, setting/controlling target costs and agreeing final accounts, advising on contractual issues) to multidisciplinary in-house construction project teams.Leading and managing the preparation of contract documentation and analysis of tenders.
Leading and managing the procurement and management of external consultants and contractors on construction projects.
Leading and managing the monitoring and reporting on contract Key Performance Indicators.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you should:
Have a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of three years' demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services, or;
Be a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS or FRICS) with a minimum of two years' demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services, or;
Have a minimum of five years' demonstrable experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services.
Your experience / knowledge should include:
Demonstrable experience of successfully providing budget estimates or cost plans for construction projects.
Demonstrable experience in the NEC or similar suite of contracts, including experience in the assessment of NEC or similar Compensation Events and preparation of assessments for payment.
