Hays are delighted to be working alongside our client in the 3rd sector to help find an Assistant Project Supervisor for ongoing projects.
Our client has announced an exciting, large-scale development programme, to run over the next 5 years. The existing engineering and projects team will be enhanced by the addition of an Assistant Project Supervisor to assist with the implementation of this capital program. The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing team, building future infrastructure. Your new role
The key responsibilities will be to assist the Project Supervisor with the delivery of aprons, runways, taxiways and car parks. You will be required to support the Project Supervisor on daily operations, deal with specialist sub-contractors acting as the first point of contact on-site.
You will support the team with design, procurement, construction, delivery and handover of the project. Ensure that all materials used, and work performed are as per specifications.
Other key duties will be:
- To monitor and interpret the construction design drawings supplied by the design engineers
- Maintain communication between departments- which will include frequent briefings and accurate record keeping
- Participating in quality control as per project requirements
- Contribute to the maintenance of a culture of excellent health, safety and environmental standards
- Prepare reports as required
- The ability to resolve any unexpected technical difficulties if and when they arise
- Assist in all emergency incident management situations as directed by the Operations Duty Management Team.
- Ability to work flexible hours to facilitate any out-of-hours activity as and when required

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate should be well presented and confident, in good health with an excellent attendance record.
A minimum of Level 4 qualification in a relevant engineering /construction discipline is essential, with CSCS, CSR, SafePass or equivalent construction industry card.
You should have a minimum of 1 year experience in the construction sector, be able to demonstrate experience as part of a project delivery team and have experience of record keeping.
Other essential criteria for the role are highlighted below:
- Experience co-ordinating and supervising contractors / direct labour & trades
- Working knowledge of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015)
- Working knowledge of software packages such as MS Word, Outlook & Excel
- Problem-solving abilities, planning and maintaining directions, experience working with other departments and teams
- Effective communication and time management skills - particularly when analysing and communicating findings
- Good decision maker and ability to know when to seek more senior direction
The successful candidate will be required to pass a company pre-employment medical, including alcohol and drug screening and an eyesight examination and also be able to satisfy security checks, renewable on a regular basis, against records of the police and security agencies in accordance with current policy.
You should be flexible to work and facilitate any out of hours activity as and when required.
