We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our client, based in Cookstown as a full-time Walling Mason/Brick Layer

Our client is Northern Ireland’s Leading Public Sector Employer.

Rate of pay: £12.54

Location: Cookstown

Hours: Mon-Thur: 8am to 4:30pm

Fri: 8am to 1:15pm

Duration: 51 weeks possible extension

Start Date: 20/03/2025

Job Duties:

The Walling Mason/Bricklayer will be expected to contribute to HED’s maintenance, conservation, and preservation of our State Care sites. The main duties and responsibilities of the post holder will include, but not limited to:

1. To be capable of building masonry to a high standard and fulfil range of duties as expected for a time served walling mason/bricklayer tradesperson.

2. Marking out and setting out basic dimensions etc as per instructions received.

3. Working with and building stone walls, dry or with mortar by use of line and or standing height.

4. Cutting dressing/ bricks, stones (faced or rubble) competently using hammers, chisels or portable power tools.

5. Laying all types of masonry (bricks, stone, etc)

6. Gauging and mixing lime or cement mortars as required.

7. Pointing brickwork and stonework, cutting out and repointing masonry of all types and styles.

8. When required, assist scaffolder with erecting, alterations to working platform and dismantling and scaffold removal. Scaffolding training may also be provided.

9. Load and unload materials for transport to and from site.

10. Drive departmental vehicles, including transport of colleagues and materials.

11. Complete required documentation as requested.

12. Carrying out general labour duties.

13. Attend training as required.

Essential Experience & Qualifications required:


1. Two years’ experience in building masonry and brick bonds.

AND

2. Possess a full current car driving licence to enable the post holder to drive in Northern Ireland.


Desired Experience and Qualifications:


1. A relevant NVQ Level 2 and/or City and Guilds in Bricklaying/ Masonry, or relevant equivalent qualification.
