Senior HR Officer – Belfast – Immediate Start

MCS Group is pleased to be partnering with a private sector organisation in the Belfast area, currently seeking an experienced Senior HR Officer to join their team on a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months.

The role

This role is focused on delivering a high-performing HR function that supports the company’s business objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing HR policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance efficiency, compliance, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within the HR team to support business planning and strategic HR initiatives.
  • Implement people strategies that promote employee engagement, talent development, and learning opportunities.
  • Provide expert advice to managers on employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary issues, disputes, absence management, redundancy, and retirement.
  • Offer guidance on terms and conditions of employment, ensuring compliance with best practices and employment legislation.
  • Identify and drive efficiency improvements across HR functions to enhance service delivery and overall business performance.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures to support organisational growth and minimise workplace disputes.
  • Support the recruitment and selection process, ensuring vacancies are resourced in a timely and effective manner.
  • Facilitate workforce training and development, including both internal coaching and external learning opportunities.
  • Ensure HR strategy is aligned with business objectives, contributing to key organisational projects.

The successful candidate

  • CIPD qualification or a relevant degree.
  • At least two years’ experience in a generalist HR role within a large organisation.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and HR management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK and Northern Ireland employment law and HR best practices.
  • A professional, confidential, and people-focused approach, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
