Your new role
In your new role, as Casework Officer, you will work within the Legal and Investigations Team (L&I) managing a caseload of complaints and queries regarding rights breaches or entitlements. The role requires providing efficient and effective advice, advocacy, and guidance on appropriate remedies using current legal and policy frameworks. Additionally, the post holder will offer administrative support to the L&I team as needed.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing an individual caseload and handling multiple issues simultaneously.
- Providing prompt advice and advocacy to achieve satisfactory resolutions and support and advising clients with complaints against relevant authorities.
- Assisting with investigations into alleged rights breaches and representing clients in tribunal cases.
- Attending meetings with clients and relevant authorities.
- Maintaining accurate records in the case management system.
- Assisting with outreach activities.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential Criteria:
- Education: Degree qualification in a relevant subject (e.g., Law or Social Science) applied professionally since graduation.
- Experience: At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in managing casework, providing advocacy and advice, and interpreting legislation, policy, and technical documents.
- Communication: Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relationship Building: Ability to work well as an individual and in a team.
- Workload Management: Ability to work under pressure, handle a caseload, and meet tight deadlines.
Desirable Criteria:
- Legal Qualification: Solicitor or barrister eligible to practice in Northern Ireland.
