Honeycomb is delighted to be assisting a public sector client with an immediate need for a Licensing Officer (Fire & Safety Risk Assessment/ Enforcement) Temporary contract. Newtownards, Co.Down

The Client - This large organisation operates with responsible oversight in relation to regulatory governance matters throughout the local catchment area. With a current requirement within a particular dept due to a illness related sickness cover.

The Role - The main purpose of the post is to implement, monitor and enforce a range of licensing functions that the Council has responsibility for including the licensing of places of entertainment, cinemas, pavement cafés, street trading, road closure orders and deal with high hedge complaints. In addition, the post holder will be expected to assist with other relevant legislation and duties undertaken by Licensing and Regulatory Services.

Reporting to the Licensing and Regulatory Services Manager, this role will focus on the following scope:

  • To liaise with service users, members of the public, government departments, Police, NI Fire & Rescue Service, architects, solicitors and other relevant bodies concerning licence applications and enforcement.
  • Report and make recommendations regarding licence applications and enforcement of licence conditions to the Licensing and Regulatory Services Manager as and were appropriate.
  • To liaise with service users, government departments, PSNI, NI Fire & Rescue Service, architects, solicitors, and other relevant bodies concerning the implementation and interpretation of legislation/ policy.
  • To establish and support user groups to provide information, guidance and training to licensees.

The Person

  • 2 ‘A’ Levels or equivalent
  • An approved certification in fire risk assessment
  • 6 months experience in assessing Fire Risk Assessments or enforcing relevant legislation
  • 6 months experience of maintaining accurate records and compiling reports.
  • Good current working knowledge of Word and Excel software packages

Desirable:

  • Prior background of fire / civil servant enforcement officer experience.
