The appointment is for a full-time,
permanent, Head of Department position,
which arises following the retirement of the
Current Head of Department.
The Department is currently staffed by two
full time and one part time member of staff
and a full-time technician.
At Key Stage 3 level, there are 6 classes
which are subdivided into 9 smaller groups
for Home Economics. Each group has 2
periods per fortnight (each period is 55
minutes) and approximately 16 boys in a
class. Currently at Key Stage 4, GCSE
Hospitality is offered with 2 classes in each
year group. BTEC Hospitality is offered at
Key Stage 5 with there being 2 classes in
each year group. This has been a popular
subject, but since the removal of BTEC
Hospitality from the UK curriculum offer, the
College has decided to phase out
Hospitality entirely, and replace it with GCSE
& A Level Health and Social Care.
Across the academic year 2025/2026, there
will be two Year 12 classes finishing GCSE
Hospitality and two Year 14 classes
finishing BTEC Hospitality. Therefore, the
successful candidate will be required to
oversee the end of Hospitality for Years 12
and 14, and the introduction of Health and
Social Care in Years 11 and 13.
The curriculum offering is reviewed
regularly and the College is also open to
offering GCSE Food and Nutrition (and
potentially A Level Nutrition and Food
Science or an equivalent qualification) if
there is sufficient interest, in the near future.
