About the Role:

Our esteemed public sector client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Health & Safety Advisor (Construction) to join their dedicated team. This role is pivotal in ensuring comprehensive health and safety standards are maintained across construction projects. You will provide expert advice, guidance, and support to senior management and operational staff, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Competent Person under Health & Safety Regulations, providing expert advice on contractor and construction safety.

  • Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance.

  • Conduct thorough site inspections, produce detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Investigate incidents, compile reports, and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.

  • Deliver health and safety training sessions tailored to management and staff needs.

  • Attend and advise in meetings such as Pre-Start, Site, and Health & Safety Committees.

  • Support project managers in fulfilling their roles under CDM (NI) 2016 regulations.

  • Analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to support continuous improvement.

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree or equivalent (Level 6) in Occupational Health & Safety, or currently progressing towards completion within 12 months.

  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in a Health & Safety role within the construction industry.

  • Membership with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

  • Proven experience in:

    • Conducting construction site health and safety inspections.

    • Developing and implementing health & safety policies and training.

    • Reviewing Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • A valid driving license or access to transport to meet job requirements.

Desirable Criteria:

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety Management.

  • Experience working within large, complex, multi-site organizations.
