- THE ROLE -
The role holder will specialise in Azure, leading in architecting, implementing, and optimising cloud solutions to ensure the design of scalable and resilient architectures.
The primary remit of the role extends to supporting and maintaining the University’s Cloud-Based Microsoft Enterprise configurations incorporating the M365 ecosystem, Entra ID, Azure Cloud Services and the Microsoft Security stack including Defender for Cloud, Defender for Office, Defender for Identity and Defender for Cloud Apps.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to and lead on solution design and implementation, complex problem resolution and ongoing service enhancement in relation to the entire Azure & M365 technology stack. You will collaborate closely with other key stakeholders within the Digital Services Directorate and beyond to explore, design, and deliver solutions, thereby significantly contributing to the University’s growth in the Azure ecosystem through architecting, implementing, and optimising cloud solutions.

The interview process for this position will consist of 2 stages. A Technical pre-assessment entailing 2 unseen tasks (remote or in person). If you are successful, you will be invited to interview which will entail a seen presentation and subsequent interview (preferably in person).
- ABOUT YOU -
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in an Information Technology, Computer Science related discipline or can demonstrate an appropriate level and range of professional experience.
- Experience in designing and implementing Azure cloud solutions from design through to production.
- Experience of deploying, managing and supporting any two of the following technologies in a large organisation:
1. Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
2. Entra ID
3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and ARM
4. Microsoft Defender Suite including Defender for Cloud, Defender for Office, Defender for Identity and Defender for Cloud Apps
5. Containerisation technologies including Azure Kubernetes
6. Secure logging of Azure and Microsoft Events such as Log Analytics
- Experience and proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- Strong experience of supporting, managing and developing the following Azure Infrastructure technologies: Networking, Security, Storage and Compute.
- A willingness to travel between campuses.
