Hays Accountancy & Finance are seeking a permanent Management Accountant for our client to help their support services manage their budgets, and work to ensure the continued financial sustainability of the organisation. This organisation has recently went under new leadership and have significant growth plans.

This role is ideal for someone with 1 years PQE, that is seeking staff management experience but also has the guidance and mentorship from an experience financial controller and director of finance. Salary and benefits include the following

Point 1 £41,000.00
Point 2 £42,000.00
Point 3 £43,000.00
Point 4 £44,000.00
Point 5 £45,000.00
Point 6 £46,000.00

The holidays will be 36-39 days paid per holiday year (including designated holidays)

You will earn one extra day per year up to 39 days. Entitlements are shown based on full time hours. These will be adjusted on a pro rata basis for part time staff.

Your new role

  • Monthly Financial Management - Prepare/review month-end journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis reports.
  • Ensure timely submission of information and support finance assistants.
  • Suggest process improvements.
  • Team Management - Train and supervise Finance Assistants.
  • Stakeholder Management - Support IRL & NAHVI services, manage queries, and ensure processes are effective.
  • Assist with costing services and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Budgeting and Audits - Assist in preparing annual budgets and contribute to the year-end audit process.
  • Prepare statutory accounts.
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller and represent at meetings.
  • Oversee internal audits, update bank mandates, and ensure timely payroll.
  • Approve new Purchase Ledger accounts.
  • Lead finance-related projects.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Chartered Accountant Qualification with 1 year PQ - CIMA, ACA, ACCA etc.
  • Preparing and reviewing management accounts.
  • Managing staff, including objective setting and appraisals.
  • Contributing to statutory accounts preparation and external audits.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to travel independently - this includes holding a driving licence.
