Honeycomb Jobs is delighted to be partnering with 3rd Sector organisation, to recruit two fulltime Advice Workers based in Belfast and Dungannon.
The Client – The organisation provides emotional and practical support for individuals and families who have been directly bereaved or injured as a result of the conflict, or a carer for someone who has been injured.
The Role: This credible position reports into the Deputy Director and would have an annual salary of £32,076 with fantastic holiday allowance. Duties will include but will not be limited to:
- Provide information and advice on the scheme for people injured of the conflict.
- Maintain an ongoing caseload associated with the position.
- Make home visits in appropriate cases to the homes of persons seeking to make an application.
- Provide applicant with representation to the Payment’s Board.
- Research and collate supporting evidence of conflict harm and injury on behalf of applicants.
- Mediate and negotiate with appropriate agencies in the preparation and presentation of applications.
- Promote and develop partnership working to increase the efficiency of advice services to members of the organisation.
- Responsible for the dynamic recording, collation and provision of statistical data and reports through outcome-based monitoring and evaluation systems.
The Person
As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:
Essential:
- Relevant Third Level Degree and/or minimum 3 years paid employment working with victims and survivors in advocacy work.
- Awareness and understanding of how rights to reparations and advice issues impact the victims and survivors of conflict.
- Excellent understanding of the nature of conflict harms, physical and psychological injury, conflict trauma and its impact.
- Experience of collating archive materials and evidence on behalf of victims and survivors.
- Experience of giving advice on reparative schemes available to victims and survivors.
- Ability to interpret and clearly explain relevant legislation.
- Working experience of computer programmes e.g., Word and Excel.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with victims and survivors of conflict in paid or unpaid capacity.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing.
- Ability to prepare high quality reviews and reports.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- A demonstrated commitment to human rights and the core values and work of Relatives for Justice.
- A driver’s license and access to own transport.
