Assistant Accountant

VANRATH are delighted to be working with growing group business based in East Belfast, seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Technician or Assistant Accountant to join the finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Financial Controller, gaining exposure to a range of financial processes within a dynamic and supportive environment.

What you'll do

• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Prepare and process journals for accruals, prepayments, and other financial entries
• Assist in the preparation of VAT returns and PAYE submissions to HMRC.
• Monitor and reconcile the sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded
• Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with auditors during the audit process.
• Handle bank reconciliations and ensure cash flow is accurately monitored.
• Support with the preparation of financial reports and ad-hoc financial analysis

About you

• Accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, part-qualified ACCA, or CIMA)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, VAT, and payroll procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
