Principal
The Board of Governors of Hunterhouse College is seeking to appoint an outstanding Principal, commencing 1st September 2025, to provide professional leadership and management for the continued development of the College.
The right person will set and model our Vision and Values and ensure that these shape the strategic priorities for the College as it moves forward. As such, the Principal will be responsible for defining long-term goals, encouraging innovation and advocating for the school to meet its evolving educational goals.
Shortlisting Criteria – by date of application
Essential Criteria
1. A teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant aided schools in Northern Ireland (e.g. PGCE or equivalent).
2. Registration with the GTCNI and possession of a Department of Education Teacher’s Reference Number by the agreed start date.
3. An Honours degree (minimum classification 2.2).
4. A minimum of 10 years’ experience, within the last 15 years, in a paid capacity as a teacher in a post-primary school of more than 500 students.
5. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a post-primary school with a Sixth Form.
6. Currently employed or have been employed within the last 5 years as a Vice Principal, Deputy Head or Principal in a school or college of over 500 students which includes a Sixth Form.
Desirable Criteria
1. An Honours degree (minimum classification 2.1).
2. PQHNI and/or Higher Diploma, Masters or Doctorate relating to educational management and/or leadership.
3. A minimum of 3 years’ of working as a Vice Principal, Deputy Head or Principal.
