Commercial Finance Analyst (Exclusive)

VANRATH are delighted to be working exclusively with an innovative utility provider based in Belfast to recruit a dynamic Commercial Finance Analyst to take on an exciting role within the business.

The Commercial Analyst is responsible for assisting with the development of operational and commercial arrangements in accordance with the relevant regulatory obligations, contractual framework and appropriate industry standards. The ability to forge strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be a critical success factor in the role.

About you

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification with at least 2 years relevant experience gained wuthin a finance enviroment
  • Ability to analyse, assimilate and objectively assess complex information, reports and critical analysis to formulate cogent views and opinions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and succinctly.
  • Ability to develop and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; with experience in Excel essential.

What you’ll do

  • Preparation of management accounts for review by the Finance Manager;
  • Ensure the monthly billing for transportation and energy balancing charges to network users is processed accurately and on time;
  • Manage the administration of the Joint Accounts including maintaining procedures, user lists, movement of money and ensuring training where appropriate to relevant parties;
  • Ensure the quarterly VAT return is calculated correctly and submitted on time;
  • Aid the Finance Manager in the interaction on price control activities with the regulatory body;
  • Aid in the annual business planning process and budget preparation, ensuring that price control allowances are adhered to and relevant approvals are gained;
  • Respond and investigate where necessary all queries of a financial/commercial nature received by customers and stakeholders;
  • Input into change related projects providing tariff and financial expertise in the scoping of code modifications and IT functionality including testing as required;
  • Utilise knowledge of our transmission charging arrangements to help maintain the relevant areas of the IT systems;
  • Completion of various reporting requirements to network users,
  • Ensure all financial policies and procedures are adhered to, and financial process documents are accurate and up to date;
  • Aid the preparation of responses to industry consultations on financial and gas tariffing topics, providing subject matter expertise as required;
