Project Worker 2 - BOOST
Barnardo's Family Connections work with children and families to support children's learning and development. We work in schools and communities to help improve connections between children, parents, schools and communities and improve outcomes for children.
Family Connections is delivering services directly with children and families in Newtownabbey. We work with pupils and families to help children achieve in school and deliver parenting programmes and promote family wellbeing.
Barnardo's are also co-ordinating an area wide collaboration, THRiVE, working with local parents, schools, statutory and voluntary organisations and community groups to help children and young people to thrive. Initial Specific Responsibilities
This project worker role will focus on improving educational achievement through work with children and their parents on the BOOST programme. This will include:
- Working with Key Stage 2 pupils to engage them in learning and improve numeracy and literacy attainment using a range of interventions.
- Working with parents, delivering home learning packs, information sessions and programmes to support parents to promote learning at home, with a focus on numeracy and literacy.
- Delivering family learning sessions after school for children and parents to engage in learning activities together
Essential Criteria
- Professional qualification to degree level in teaching ie Bachelor of Education or degree with PGCE
- Demonstrable experience of teaching KS2 children in a primary school setting
- Demonstrable experience of using creative approaches to promote children's numeracy and literacy
Desirable Criteria
- Demonstrable experience of working with parents to support them with involvement in children's learning
The successful applicant for this post will be required to undertake an enhanced Access NI with Child and Adult Barred List check.
Location: Newtownabbey
Hours: 15 hour post to be worked across two days per week, term time
Salary: £27,573 - 36,389.29 FTE. Please note that this is the full time equivalent- the actual salary will be calculated pro-rata for part time, term time working.
Fixed: 31st March 2025 - 30th June 2026. (May be extended subject to funding)
