Head of Software Engineering

MCS is proud to be recruiting for an exciting new position for a Head of Software Engineering for one of their rapidly expanding clients. This Head of Software Engineering position is a newly created role for this business, and is strategically an incredibly important position for our client overall. An amazing opportunity for someone to join an incredibly intelligent team, working in a niche, exciting domain with a truly innovative product.

The Role

This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished technical leader to drive technical strategy and direction for a hugely successful, scaling business. The Head of Engineering will work closely with the senior leadership team designing and defining the future of their SaaS product. You will guide a growing team of software engineers and ensure best practice is being followed. The Head of Engineering will also have a lot of autonomy over the product and its roadmap, along with being responsible for technology choices.

Experience Required

- While this is not a hands-on coding role, our client is looking for a leader who has a strong technical background - specifically having worked in Python and AWS (essential).

- You'll have 5+ years in a software engineering manager / head of engineering role

- Experience setting technical direction and a strong passion for following best coding practices.

- Strong people management skills. Ideally you will have experience in managing at a minimum a team of 6+ software engineers
