Hays are delighted to present you with an exciting opportunity to secure a permanent position as a Buyer with a growing medium sized contractor based in Co.Antrim. Your new company has built an enviable reputation within the local construction industry for the delivery of bespoke, high quality projects over a wide and varied range of sectors. They offer a wide range of services including New Build Construction, Refurbishment and Interior Fit-Out. Our client has secured a strong pipeline of work for 2025/26 and now requires a Buyer to join their growing team.

Your new role
Our client requires a procurement specialist to join their commercial team and assess requirements for materials on a range of projects. You will be responsible for arranging the cost effective purchase of the materials to an acceptable quality standard. You will procure materials for a variety of projects across NI worth up to £5m. You will be office based and report directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career within procurement with previous experience in a similar role ideally with a main contractor. A proven track record of cost effective purchasing is essential. As you will be required to work as part of a team, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. You will also be able to demonstrate impressive negotiation skills accompanied with the ability to work on your own initiative.
