Job Title: Supplies & Logistics Officer
Location: Boucher Crescent
Hourly Rate: Scale 6 - £15.48
Contract: Temporary. Approx. 3 months, with possible extension (36.25
hours per week)
Main Purpose:
The Supplies & Logistics Officer will ensure the efficient procurement,
management, and safekeeping of vehicles, PPE, consumables, operational
equipment, and uniforms for the Fire & Rescue Service. This role involves
stock management, procurement, and working across multiple disciplines to
ensure service continuity. Participation in the regional Duty Standby Rota and
out-of-hours service support is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage
procurement and stock levels of vehicles, PPE, consumables, and
operational equipment.
- Organize
the disposal of redundant stock in compliance with policies.
- Issue
and receive stock, ensuring accurate system updates.
- Maintain
quality assurance for deliveries and manage stocktaking activities.
- Oversee
the procurement of specialist equipment and ensure compliance with
national standards.
- Operate
mechanical handling equipment and assist with the maintenance of storage
areas.
- Process
purchase orders and liaise with suppliers to minimize downtime of vehicles
and equipment.
- Manage
warranties and monitor supplier performance against contracts.
- Ensure
proper disposal and maintenance of firefighting PPE and contaminated
items.
- Represent
the department in tenders, contracts, and supplier management.

Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ
Level 3 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a
multi-commodity stores environment, or NVQ Level 2 with 4+ years of
experience, or 5+ years’ relevant experience.
- Proficiency
in Windows and Microsoft applications.
- Forklift
license (Counterbalance and Reach) or willingness to obtain.
- Strong
organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility
to work in multiple disciplines and out-of-hours as needed.
- Strong
attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced
environment.
