Design Engineer

I am looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join my client's team based in Mid-Ulster.

You will join a team of talented engineers and develop new products, and production systems, as well as improve the performance and efficiency of existing products.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Turn Research ideas into detailed designs for production
• Re-engineering designs to make them more production-friendly to gain manufacturing time.
• Write or present engineering reports on various areas of design
• Produce production specifications and engineering drawings
• Know all legislation and apply these two designs
• Knowledge of “good practice” standards
• Mentor junior design engineers
• Share your design experience in design review meetings to ensure the customer gets the best solution
• Apply continuous improvement methodology to working practices and have an appreciation of lean manufacturing principles

Essential Criteria

• Minimum of 3 years industrial/ manufacturing experience
• Experience in engineering design
• Knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD Software (e.g. Autodesk)
• Knowledge of design stress/ loading calculations, as well as being familiar with FEA
• An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods in heavy engineering
