We are recruiting on behalf of a valued public sector client for a skilled and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join their team on a 3-month temporary contract. About the Role
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in safeguarding public health through the monitoring, enforcement, and promotion of environmental standards. You will address a variety of environmental and public health issues, including food hygiene, health and safety, housing standards, and environmental protection.
This short-term position is ideal for professionals seeking to utilise their expertise in a meaningful way, contributing to essential public health initiatives over a defined period.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting routine and complaint-led inspections.
- Investigating breaches of environmental health regulations.
- Providing professional advice and support to businesses, landlords, and the public.
- Preparing detailed reports and evidence for legal proceedings, if necessary.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the delivery of public health initiatives during the contract term.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Health.
- A solid understanding of UK environmental health legislation.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: food safety, housing, health and safety, or environmental protection.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role, as travel within the area may be required.
