Your new role
As the Development and Innovation Manager, you will lead all engineering development and innovation activities within the R&D team. You will be responsible for delivering the NPI project programme and developing the competence centre within R&D. Supporting the Head of Development and Innovation, you will optimise and deliver activities, provide training and peer support to develop engineer competences, and support continuous development initiatives. You will promote a positive and performance-driven culture, ensuring the delivery of development-related activities for NPI and VI projects, maintaining a sound theoretical approach to technology, and demonstrating practical application of engineering knowledge. Your role will also involve promoting innovation, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, and contributing to continuous improvement.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in product research and development, and continuous improvement within a technical, engineering, or manufacturing discipline. You should have excellent technical experience and advanced knowledge of your professional discipline, along with a working knowledge of other disciplines. Proven experience of leading and mentoring engineers, up-to-date principles in technology, performance optimisation, validation, and test methodology are essential. Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills, effective decision-making, and the ability to balance competing priorities are crucial. You should be a team player with excellent communication and networking skills, strong drive, initiative, and self-motivation. Awareness of markets and customers, and the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with colleagues are also important.
