Payroll Specialist - Belfast - NI Water

- Location: Westland House, Belfast (with potential travel to other NI Water sites)
- Hours: Full-time, Temporary (6 months). Hybrid working will be offered after a 3 month working period
- Salary: £28,441 per annum

As a Payroll Specialist within the Human Resources Directorate, you’ll be responsible for providing administrative support across HR and payroll functions. This includes processing payroll, maintaining HR records, and offering guidance to employees on HR/payroll-related queries.
Key responsibilities:Payroll Service Delivery
- Process monthly payrolls, including overtime, promotions, and allowances
- Assist the Employee Support Manager with HR/payroll-related projects
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Maintain accurate employee data within the HR system
- Process HMRC transactions and statutory deductions
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all payroll processes
- Support colleagues with training and knowledge sharing
Customer Service Delivery
- Manage payroll and HR-related queries via email and phone
- Provide advice on Employee Relations, Recruitment, Absence, Pensions, and more
- Deliver high-quality service with attention to detail and accuracy
- Assist employees and managers with new HR system implementations
- Identify opportunities to improve processes
Employee Relations
- Maintain accurate employee records and process resignations, leave requests, and references
- Provide administrative support for benefits, salary sacrifice, and awards schemes
- Ensure smooth processing of new employee information and updates
- Handle HR-related invoices and purchase orders
Criteria:- GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent qualifications
- 2+ years of payroll experience processing payroll for 250+ employees
- Experience in a high-volume HR/payroll environment, providing support on policies and liaising with internal/external stakeholders
- Proficiency in Oracle HR/Payroll or similar HR systems
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook
