SENIOR MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS

Location: Working in designated GP practices within the East Antrim GP Federation area
Salary: £43,742 - £50,056 per annum
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (part-time may be considered)
Contract: Permanent (compiling a waiting list in the first instance)
GP Federations are not-for-profit Community Interest Companies consisting of GP Practices in defined areas or localities. The primary objective of each individual Federation is to support GP Practices and provide better care, delivered in a more responsive way and closer to home, for all our patients.
Job Summary
The East Antrim GP Federation, in partnership with the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, anticipate the extended rollout of a Primary Care Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) within this area. In preparation of this, we are seeking to compile a waiting list of suitably qualified and experienced SMHPS to join this team.
SMHPs will be employed by the GP Federation to work alongside Trust employed First Contact Physiotherapists and Social Work Practitioners to deliver this new service in GP Practices across the federation area (list provided in Application Information Pack).
Essential Criteria:
- Applicants should hold valid registration with one of the following:
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, live on NMC register
- Professional Social Work qualification and registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
- Registered Occupational Therapist
- Practitioner psychologist registered with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
AND
- Have 3 years’ post qualifying experience in one of the above disciplines working at Band 6 level (or equivalent/above) of which two years should be in Adult Mental Health Services
- Applicants must demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience of working in adult mental health services including knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures as well as un understanding of the role of statutory agencies, and community services
- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering the optimum standard of patient centred/client centred care
- Demonstrate an understanding of clinical governance including risk management
- Have an excellent understanding of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions and evidence of application of same
- Have a commitment to on-going personal and professional development
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of team
- The successful candidate should hold a full current driving license (valid in the UK) and have access to a car at the closing date or have ** access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to carry out the duties of the post in full. Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of working in a Primary Care/Community Setting
A waiting list may be compiled for similar vacancies that may arise within the next 12 months.
