A thriving Telecoms business is looking for a Network Operations Center (NOC) Support Engineer to join their team here in Belfast. This position involves delivering operational support and technical expertise across a range of projects and technologies.

The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Belfast NOC, providing technical assistance, monitoring network performance, and generating reports for engineers, clients, and management. A detailed list of responsibilities is provided below, and comprehensive training will be offered.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Monitor telecom systems and respond promptly to alerts and issues within agreed timeframes.
  • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting of network devices, including Cisco equipment, microwave radios, and Ethernet/IP systems.
  • Execute predefined technical procedures to resolve issues remotely, escalating to field teams when required.
  • Offer remote guidance to field engineers to address technical faults.
  • Apply configurations to network devices for both preventive and corrective measures.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, adjusting procedures as necessary.
  • Manage remote configurations for network changes, additions, or relocations.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure the technical aspects of work orders are completed efficiently.
  • Support the Service Manager with data analysis, reporting, and identifying network trends.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Conduct daily system checks and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare and oversee the technical details of change requests and operational procedures.
  • Generate reports on network performance and system statistics across multiple technologies.
  • Maintain and update customer documentation, diagrams, and databases.
  • Coordinate with the Service Desk and NOC to ensure proper ticket tracking and updates.
  • Provide regular updates to internal teams and clients.

General Duties

  • Follow established quality standards in all tasks.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft applications and command-line interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of telecommunications systems and networking technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients in person, over the phone, or via video calls.
  • CCNA certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
