Main Purpose:
To provide expert technical and business support for a range of Digital Line of
Business (LOB) Systems and Services. The role includes managing systems such as
Finance, HR, Stores, Fleet, and Operational Applications, ensuring the
efficient and effective provision of these services, including development,
maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Digital
System Management:
- Provide
specialized technical knowledge for managing Digital LOB Systems and
Services, ensuring compatibility, security, and asset management across
all hardware and software.
- Oversee
day-to-day service requests and incidents, meeting service level agreement
(SLA) standards with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead
system development and implementation, including troubleshooting and
resolving issues in collaboration with external suppliers and internal
teams.
- Ensure
up-to-date documentation, including operational guides and policies for
system users.
- Business
Planning:
- Work
with senior staff across departments to support the organization’s
strategic priorities and solve IT-related challenges through innovative
solutions.
- Manage
the development of business cases, tenders, and quotations in compliance
with procurement policies.
- Provide
expert advice and support for IT management strategies, budgeting, and
long-term plans.
- Systems
and Service Improvement:
- Research
and monitor technological developments to introduce new or enhanced
systems, ensuring best value and efficient resource use.
- Lead
efforts to continuously improve IT services and oversee quality
initiatives, especially those related to IT service management standards
such as ISO 2
- People
Management:
- Provide
leadership and guidance to IT team members, helping to develop their
skills and ensure high performance.
- Supervise
staff, support their training needs, and ensure a flexible and motivated
workforce.
- Governance,
Data & Information Assurance:
- Ensure
compliance with all relevant frameworks, policies, and procedures,
particularly those related to health and safety, equality, and
information governance.
- Advise
senior management on legislation, policies, and processes and coordinate
with internal and external auditors for the accurate provision of
IT-related information.
Essential Criteria:
- Education:
Degree in a relevant field (e.g., IT, Systems Development) OR at least 5
years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience:
- At
least 2 years in a Systems Manager role, or 5 years in a similar
capacity.
- Proven
experience managing and upgrading IT systems, with the ability to
troubleshoot complex issues.
- Skills:
- Strong
planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability
to deliver high-quality work with attention to detail and a customer
service orientation.
- Valid
UK driving license or access to personal transport.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience
in the public sector or local government.
