Exciting Opportunity: Head of Engineering
Location: Northern Ireland
Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility for occasional weekend management as needed)

About the Role

Are you ready to take the lead in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? As the Head of Engineering, you’ll spearhead a team of multi-skilled engineers, oversee critical projects, and ensure that all preventative and routine maintenance meets the highest standards. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, optimising efficiency, and upholding uncompromising standards in food safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver engineering and innovation projects to support current and future business goals.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring objectives are achieved within set deadlines and budgets.
  • Oversee external suppliers and contractors, ensuring strict compliance with safety and food safety protocols.
  • Identify potential risks and implement strategies to guarantee seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical support to Product Development, from concept through to launch.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to boost capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment.

What We’re Looking For

Our client is seeking a passionate and driven professional who thrives in a challenging and evolving setting. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, process control, pumps, drives, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a strong background in managing teams and projects.
  • Familiarity with BRC food safety standards and an excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities, coupled with strong IT and communication skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
