Retail Supervisor

My client is a leading organisation based in Belfast who are a modern and progressive local pharmacy group. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking an experienced Retail Supervisor to join their team.

This is a Full-Time, permanent position.

Working hours: 40 hours per week (Mon-Sun rota basis)

Salary: negotiable dependant on experience

Job Purpose:

You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the retail area so as to maximize retail turnover.

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy, retail outlet environment working with beauty and Fragrance products.
  • GCSE Maths and English – Grades A-C.
  • IT proficient with the use of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal – with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload with the ability to multitask and work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Adhere to confidentiality at all times.

Desirable Criteria:

  • 3rd level qualification in the field of Health and Beauty.
  • Previous experience in a Supervisory role in a retail pharmacy environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service at all times.
  • Organise the staff rota to ensure staffing levels are appropriate to allow for the efficient operation of the shop at all times (including lunch and tea breaks). Overtime must be agreed with the Manager.
  • Assist in the supervision of staff as directed.
  • Assist in the induction and training of new staff.
  • Ensure new start and leaver forms are completed and forwarded to the relevant personnel at Head Office.
  • Ensure excellent service is maintained through the ongoing monitoring of existing staff performance
  • To assess and prioritise daily tasks.
  • To discuss and agree tasks with the Manager/Retail Area/Area Manager.
  • To delegate tasks to staff in a clear and concise manner and to check they are carried out quickly and efficiently.
  • Always act in a fair and consistent manner to all staff
  • Ensure staff presentation (uniform, name badges, appearance) is as per Company standards.
  • To be a key holder (if required) – open/close premises when required.
  • Ensure the accurate cashing up and recording of all tills.
  • Organise monies for bank lodgements and till floats.
  • Ensure the weekly cash sheet is completed and sent to Head Office in the internal mail.
  • Ensure all head office emails relating to the shop retail area are printed read and, understood and acted upon by all relevant staff.
  • To be aware of local competitor pricing and activity and where these may have an adverse effect on the branches business, report it to the Manager and directly to the relevant head office personnel.
  • To ensure that all customer complaints are properly addressed and that all reasonable steps are taken to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the customer. All customer complaints must be recorded. Where a complaint relates to the dispensary, it must be referred to the Manager.
  • To ensure a high standard of cleanliness exists throughout the branch.
  • Reviewing and placing of orders to the warehouse, receiving orders into the shop, booking stock into EPOS, implementing price changes.
  • To pursue and obtain a credit for any shortages / breakages etc.
