Hays is partnering with a leading food company based in Dungannon, Northern Ireland, to recruit a HR Assistant who will provide all aspects of administrative support to the department's functions for the benefit of the company and its employees. Duties will span across all generalist HR activities, whilst striving to deliver a proactive, efficient HR service to their key stakeholders.

Your new role

  • Payroll: Ensure timely, accurate payroll submissions for weekly/salaried employees, investigate and resolve payroll queries, and update relevant systems.
  • Non-Attendance: Complete and report on daily absence and weekly trackers, follow up on RTW forms, and monitor non-attendance disciplinary progress.
  • Recruitment & Selection: Liaise with managers to prepare job adverts and descriptions, support transfers from temporary to permanent roles, organise interviews, and ensure compliance with new hire processes.
  • Starters/Leavers: Complete setup and exit processes for new starters and leavers, support employee exit interviews, and ensure timely updates to IT and systems.
  • Reports: Maintain knowledge of company systems, prepare reports, assist with ad hoc reports, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Agency: Monitor weekly agency hours and distribute accordingly for processing.
  • Employee Relations: Organise and coordinate disciplinary meetings, address issues raised by managers and HR and support Occupational Health appointments.
  • Employee Engagement: Support group engagement initiatives, including participation in the company app, long service awards, recognition events, and the annual engagement survey.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential:

  • Excellent computer skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Office / Administration experience
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional manner and ability to deal with confidential material

Desirable:

  • HR background
  • Working towards an HR qualification
  • Experience using HR databases such as PP/TMS.
