Our client, based in Belfast is looking for a Social Media Editor to join their team
Job Description:
While the precise duties and responsibilities of individual posts will vary, the main duties and key responsibilities will include:
- Support the Department and all of its business areas by developing and promoting a strong social media identity and ensuring a dynamic, engaging and innovative social media presence.
- Plan, create and deliver engaging and dynamic social media content. This will include producing original video and audio content to include writing scripts, filming, editing, subtitling and publishing on social media. In addition it will involve the creation of tweets, posts, infographics and other content relevant to the message, audience and channel.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of communication plans, handling complex and sensitive issues, in a fast changing news environment.
- Plan for and action crisis communications, providing out of hours support as necessary. Act as the gate-keeper and risk manager for a number of Departmental social media channels, with responsibility for these channels.
- Provide strategic direction on social media channels, ensuring the content, messaging, tone and consistency are in line with the communications strategy and Departmental brand. Work collaboratively with colleagues, business partners and stakeholders to highlight the Department’s work and develop
its social media following.
- Input into departmental internal and external communication strategies and support all parts of the Department in developing plans for delivering external
communication and engagement activity via social media channels,
demonstrating sound editorial judgement, political awareness and sensitivity.
- Ensure effective social media monitoring processes and the evaluation and reporting on the effectiveness of social media communications against objectives.
- Build capability within the Department by developing and delivering training and awareness sessions to staff and to establish a social media network of
business partners, providing guidance, continuous learning and support.
- Ensure all materials for social media, or other online deployment are produced in accordance with The Public Sector Bodies (Websites) (No.2)
Accessibility Regulations 2018.
- Monitor and remain abreast of the social media landscape, trends
and features making recommendations of how the Department can continually enhance its social media offering, following and return on investment.
The above list is not exhaustive however it gives a good indication of the main duties of the post. The emphasis on particular duties will vary over time according to business needs.
Wage:- £21.99ph (weekly)
Essential Criteria:
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English graded A-C (Must have certificate Proof)
- At least one years’ experience, gained within the last five years, as a practitioner in social media, public relations, journalism, advertising or a marketing environment.
AND
- At least one years’ experience, gained within the last five years, of
working with Senior Officials and key stakeholders to develop and deliver
engaging digital content to promote important announcements, initiatives,
news or events.
- Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use own initiative
Location:
- The post will be based at Causeway Exchange, 1-7 Bedford Street Belfast. The Post holder will be required to travel across NI and therefore must be willing to travel.
