Living and Working in Chongqing

Chongqing is the largest city in southwest China. Within its borders it encompasses a wealth of water reserves, dense forests, and abundant flora and fauna. The focal point of the region is the Yangtze Three Gorges Dam, which is a tourist attraction as well as a commercial venture. The city is famous for its hot Sichuan cuisine and world-famous hotpot dishes. The cost of living in Chongqing is very low; good quality low-cost food is readily available. The cost of transportation is low as is the nightlife. It is possible to get Western goodies and essentials; Subways and Starbucks are plentiful, and new restaurants and authentic Western-style restaurants and cafes are sprouting up all over the city.

School Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in teaching subject or related field
  • Teaching certification (PGCE, state certification, or equivalent)
  • 3-5 years of Secondary teaching experience or above
  • Familiarity with international curricula (IB, IGCSE, etc.)
  • International school teaching experience preferred
  • Background in EAL or additional language teaching advantageous
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
  • Experience integrating technology in teaching practices
  • Team player with a passion for inclusive and stimulating education

Salary and Benefits

  • Teaching salaries are from approx. 25,000 - 45,000RMB, more for leadership
  • Flights for teacher only
