Hays are working in partnership with an organisation responsible for the inland waterways in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to be part of their design team in Fermanagh. This client is dedicated to the management, development, and promotion of inland waterways, focusing on enhancing public enjoyment, preserving heritage, and supporting recreational activities such as boating, cycling, and walking along these waterways. Their efforts are vital in fostering outdoor recreation and safeguarding the natural and cultural heritage of the region.
Your new role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the development, design, and construction of new and refurbished waterway projects. You will also manage contractors, consultants, and engineering staff with minimal supervision and collaborate with other divisions and external stakeholders.Key Activities:
- Conduct project studies and evaluations.
- Develop and progress design solutions from concept to construction.
- Ensure designs meet legal and professional standards.
- Prepare drawings, technical specifications, and tender documents.
- Oversee construction projects and ensure value for money.
- Work with environmental officers and bodies to meet environmental requirements.
- Help manage water resources through hydrometric gauges.
- Stay updated on health and safety legislation and implement safety measures in project designs.
- Provide financial and progress reports and improve productivity through better methods and systems.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for the Senior Civil Engineering role, you must have the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Hold a current driving licence and have access to transport which will permit travel throughout Ireland
- 5 years experience in the design field
- Possess experience of managing safety during the design, construction and life of engineering projects.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and IT-based surveying equipment.
