MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with this public sector organisation in their search for a Finance Manager (permanent position).

The role

  • Accounting & Payroll Oversight: Manage day-to-day accounting, payroll, and pension operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, adherence to best practices, and timely execution.
  • Compliance and Financial Governance: Maintain alignment with HMRC and Charities Commission standards, oversee efficient use of public funds, and track financial performance.
  • Audit and Reporting: Support both internal and external audits, coordinate audit processes, and lead the preparation of annual financial statements and reports.
  • Policy and Strategy Support: Contribute to developing policies and strategies, provide governance advice, and facilitate regular governance meetings with senior leaders.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Promote effective teamwork, strengthen internal communication, and build positive relationships with external partners, including government agencies.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and mentor staff, establish performance goals, and embody the organisation's vision and values through exemplary leadership.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Cultivate a culture of progress, acknowledge achievements, and promote the sharing of best practices across the organisation.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Successfully completed the professional examinations and be a full, current member of one of the professional accountancy bodies.
  • Possess two years’ post qualification experience in:

    • Preparation or audit of financial statements according to GAAP and/or IFRS.
    • Preparation or audit of end of year accounts.
    • Management accounting and costing systems, and financial performance reporting systems.
    • Preparing, managing and monitoring budgets.
    • Strategic Planning and Decision Support.
    • Production of management reports.

  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience of leading, managing and motivating staff to achieve individual and team objectives.
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of delivering in a business partnering role, supporting a range of internal and external stakeholders, providing support around a range of finance services.
