MCS Group is seeking a dynamic and experienced Quality professional to join our client's quality team as the Head of Supplier Quality Assurance in County Antrim.
You will join a leading manufacturing company and will have a focus on regulating, controlling, and improving supplier quality performance, driving continuous improvement in production through inspection of incoming materials, and addressing quality challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Validate and monitor new and critical suppliers; resolve supplier-related issues during inspection/assembly.
- Define and track SQA KPIs, implementing corrective actions for non-performance.
- Lead root cause analyses, corrective/preventative actions, and quality audits.
- Implement processes to recharge costs for supplier-related production impacts.
- Support production by reducing non-conforming materials and driving supplier-based quality improvements.
- Maintain and update quality management systems in line with ISO 9001.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers on quality matters.
- Lead and supervise quality personnel to resolve material quality concerns.
- Ensure timely reporting against agreed quality metrics.
Essential Requirements:
- A trade qualification in engineering or a related field, obtained through a four-year apprenticeship program/ or a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in engineering or a related field, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience within the Automotive or aeronautical industry
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience within a manufacturing environment within a quality role.
- Proven ability to define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality teams.
- Experience rejecting non-conforming materials and resolving supplier material complaints.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Proficient in conducting internal and external quality audits.
Specialist Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to assess data, trends, and quality metrics.
- Familiarity with industry-specific quality procedures and continuous improvement principles.
- Proficient in inspecting/testing materials and updating quality documentation.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications for data management and reporting.
- Travel for business purposes, to meet with local and overseas suppliers.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methods in manufacturing.
