About Role
The Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery
(ICRIR) is recruiting an Adviser to join its Strategy Team within the newly
established Strategy, Planning, and Performance Directorate. The role involves
leading and supporting key workstreams to achieve the Commission's objectives,
with a focus on policy and strategy development for the Historical Record and
reconciliation initiatives. Responsibilities include evidence-based
policy-making, fostering societal relationships, and implementing innovative
strategic approaches. This is a critical time to join the team as the
Commission begins operations, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to
impactful work.
Responsibilities
- Bringing your skills and experience to a growing team to
ensure that the ICRIR is operating effectively.
- Contribute to the drafting of policy papers on the promotion
reconciliation and the development of the Historical Record, where the
requirement is set out in statute.
- Support the Senior Strategy Adviser and the Strategy Adviser
work with a range of stakeholders to develop Board and Executive Committee
papers on a range of issues.
- Using your excellent drafting skills to produce written
content for a range of audiences. This will include key public documents
including the ICRIR’s Annual Report and Accounts and other public documents.
- Supporting the Strategy Adviser in the development of
Strategic and Operational Plans for the ICRIR.
- Support the Strategy Adviser in the delivery of training and
support the provision of subject matter advice to the Commission on the policy
and legal framework for the promotion of reconciliation.
- Supporting the Senior Strategy Adviser in undertaking
regular engagement with the Northern Ireland Office in relation to sponsorship
requirements under the Framework Document.
- Flexible approach and prepared to support the Strategy
Directorate in other areas as needed.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with
experience in drafting reports, papers or organisational
documents.
- Experience of research, analysis including the ability to
digest complex issues or documents. Experience of supporting organisational planning.
- Experience of building effective working relationships
with a range of stakeholders.
- A high degree of initiative and organisational skills, with
the ability to deal effectively with conflicting demands,
operate under pressure, and deliver results in
challenging environments.
- Demonstrate the values set out in the ICRIR Code of
Conduct.
- Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for
SC clearance, if not already cleared.
Desirable Criteria
- Level 7 qualification in Politics, International Relations,
Law or similar field
- Working experience in a strategy setting
- Experience of working in a public sector or public
affairs environment.
