Apple Recruitment are recruiting for Lead Technical Data Specialist (Band 7) on
behalf of our client, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), to work on a
temporary basis in the Belfast area.
Main duties and responsibilities:
·
Develop and EDWs infrastructure
·
Consolidate and optimise available EDWs
infrastructure.
·
Conceive analytics and business
intelligence platform architecture for users, including internal and external
stakeholders.
·
Design and implement ETL procedures
for intake of data from both internal and outside sources; as well as ensure
data is verified and quality is checked.
·
Design and implement ETL
processes and data architecture to ensure proper functioning of analytics lead,
as well as the Trust’s or third-party’s reporting environments and dashboard.
·
Collaborate with business and
technology stakeholders in ensuring EDWs architecture development and utilisation.
·
Carry out monitoring, tuning,
and database performance analysis
·
Perform the design and extension
of data marts, meta data, and data models
·
Ensure all EDWs architecture
codes are maintained in a version control system.
·
Develop and advance the ability of the Trust to access business intelligence solutions for the
continued improvement of service delivery to patients and clients.
·
Gain an understanding of the underlying database structures of Trust systems
particularly the modern systems with complex datasets. Work with System Managers and Service
Managers to understand the linkages between database structures and the
identified EDWs requirements (including those required for monitoring data
quality).
·
Develop and implement policies,
procedures, standards and guidance
to support the management of the EDWs.
·
Produce high quality documentation and ensure they are kept up to date.
·
Design and produce thorough
and detailed test plans and scripts which
are adopted prior
to the release of new and / or updated software.
·
Working alongside other developers and data in carrying out testing activities.
·
Be responsible for troubleshooting EDWs, databases, and software.
·
Be proactive in suggesting
improvements and amendments to existing BI products, tools, database structures, queries, reports, etc. and responsible for implementing any changes
·
Assist the Trust and Regional data warehouse teams with upgrades and enhancements of the data warehouse.
·
Deliver technical tutoring & training to other members
of the development team.
·
Communicate complex
ideas to lay audiences at all levels.
·
Identify the skills required
to provide a high quality Business Intelligence service within the team and wider Trust area, making
recommendations on the fulfilment of these needs.
·
Employ the principles of good information governance ensuring data security is maintained,
as outlined in the Trust’s ICT Security Policy.
·
Communicate effectively at all levels,
including with system
suppliers and regional
groups on technical data
related issues.

1a.) A university degree or relevant professional
qualification in an analytical related field, including information technology,
science, and engineering discipline and worked for at least 2 years in a senior
role performing data warehouse architecture development and management.
OR
1b.) Have at least 5 years’ experience working in a
senior role* developing databases, codes, testing for quality assurance,
administering RDBMS, and monitoring of databases.
In addition applicants
must provide evidence of continual professional improvement plus have
experience of delivering against challenging performance objectives, meeting
key targets and making significant improvements.
2.) Essential skills and knowledge:
•
Strong analytical, consultative, and communication skills; as well as
the ability to make good judgment and work with both technical and business
personnel
•
Ability to analyse and present complex information in a meaningful way
•
In depth and thorough specialist knowledge of the following Business
Intelligence technologies:
-
MS SQL Server
-
MS SSIS
-
MS SSAS
-
MS SSRS
•
Knowledge of practical uses of software packages, operating systems and
communication technologies.
•
Knowledge of development methodologies such as Agile.
•
High level interpersonal and verbal communication skills
•
High level people management and organisational skills
•
Awareness of the Health & Social Care (HSC) organisation and
Business Intelligence function
•
Knowledge of Project Management methodologies Data Analytics Tools and
Techniques
3.) Hold a current full
driving license which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on
appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose
disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport
approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the
post.

Hourly Rate: £22.37
·
Hours: 37.5 hours pw
·
Duration: 6 months (with possibility of extension)
